What is contained in the Revision Village IB English Questionbank?
The IB English Questionbank is composed of Question Sets, organized by the official IB Areas of Exploration. In each Question Set, you’ll find stimulus material and a set of scaffolded questions to answer related to the stimulus material. Each question part builds toward the skills and understanding required to thoroughly answer an IB exam-style Guiding Question about the stimulus material. They are accompanied by written markschemes containing possible ideas and a thorough, excellent sample answer to the question. For the more challenging questions, video explanations will walk you through the process of answering the question. Finally, you can and should submit responses to each question for detailed and targeted feedback from Newton AI.
What is a Guiding Question?
A Guiding Question is an IB exam-style question around which each Question Set is structured. To help you work your way through the concepts, analysis, and skills required to answer a full IB English exam-style question, the individual question parts break down the overall task into smaller questions that can be completed independently - but collectively build towards the knowledge and skills needed on the actual examinations to answer the Guiding Question in an IB English Paper 1 or Paper 2.
How should the Question Sets be best used?
IB English students will learn the most, and develop their skills best, when actively practicing answering the types of questions they will face on the IB English examinations. In reading, analyzing, and writing answers to the provided materials, you will improve your ability to formulate accurate, concise, and relevant responses to IB English questions - supported every step of the way by markschemes, video solutions, and Newton AI.
What is the difference between Open Study and Examination Mode?
A Question Set can be attempted in either Open Study or Examination mode. Open Study mode will allow you to answer each question part at your own pace. You can also receive carefully tailored AI feedback and consult the written markscheme and video solution at each step.
Alternatively, you might choose to answer all of the questions in a Question Set at once, in Examination Mode. Under this mode, you can submit all your answers when finished. After completion, you will have access to all markschemes and video solutions, and you will receive AI feedback and an overall 1 - 7 mark on your submitted work.
In Examination Mode, your answers will be saved so you can always return to them. In Open Study Mode, you can attempt each question anew.
How are the Question Sets organized? Should I go in order?
The Question Sets are primarily organized by the Areas of Exploration. As every IB English class employs different texts in different units, no general organizational topics apply to all of the English content. As a result, there is no need to progress through the Question Sets in order. However, each Question Set will focus on different concepts, analytical skills, and text types; and so you are strongly encouraged to work through them to develop your knowledge across the curriculum.
